Baking an ID Map is an easy way to create masks. To bake an ID map, you must first set a color material or vertex color on the mesh using a 3D application such as Maya.

In this article, I would like to confirm how to bake the following ID Map.
・How to bake an ID Map using materials
・How to bake an ID Map using vertex colors
・What to do when ID maps are baked into adjacent meshes as noise

For more information on how to mask using ID maps, see this page.

How to bake an ID Map using materials

  1. Select [ ID ].
  2. Select [ Material Color ] from [ Color Source ].

For details on how to bake only [ ID ], please refer to this page.

The default setting is [Material Color]. When you bake ID Mpa, it is baked with the color of the material set in the 3D application.

How to bake an ID Map using vertex colors

  1. Select [ ID ].
  2. Select [ Vertex Color ] from [ Color Source ].

For details on how to bake only [ ID ], please refer to this page.

When you bake, it will be baked with the vertex colors set in the 3D application.

What to do when ID maps are baked into adjacent meshes as noise

You can use the suffix to resolve noise in adjacent meshes.
Please refer to this page for details.

Summary

We have confirmed how to bake ID Map.

You can also use the low-poly mesh as a replacement for the high-poly mesh by setting the color to the low-poly mesh instead of the high-poly mesh when baking the ID Map.
For more information on how to use a low-poly mesh as a high-poly mesh, see this page.

On the next page, we'll see how to create a fill layer!
