[ Substance 3D Painter ] How to set the shader for Opacity material ( alpha-blending )

If you want to set the opacity of something like glass, you need to add an Opacity channel and create an opacity shader ( alpha-blending ).

In this article, I would like to confirm how to set up translucency as follows.

・How to change shader to opaque material

How to add Opacity channels

First of all, we need to create a shader from [ Texture Set Settings ] and then add an Opacity channel.

  1. Select the texture set to which you want to add the Opacity channel.
  2. Select [ New shader instance ] from [ Shader Instance ] in [ Texture Set Settings ].
  3. Click the [ + ] button from Channels in [ Texture Set Settings ],
Add [ Opacity ] from [ Unsupported by shader ].

Then proceed with the steps below.

How to change shader to opaque material ( alpha-blending )

  1. Click the [ Shader Settings ] icon on the right side of the screen,
Change the shader type to [ pbr-metal-rough-with-alpha-blending ].
  2. Change the shader name to something easier to understand, such as "Main shader(alpha)".
  3. Click the [ Add Fill layer ] icon to add a fill layer.

Set the base color, texture, etc. of the opaque area (glass).
For more information on fill layers, please see this page.
  4. Enable [ op ] and adjust the [Opacity ] value.
